In response to the recent uptick in business activity, QC has initiated major changes with the company. Until now, the company has been a Single Member LLC. With the recent addition of Fran Phillips as President and CEO, the company has now become a Multi-Member LLC with Ms. Phillips having a 51% share of the ownership. This restructuring will present legal and practical implications for the company.
From a legal perspective, the new structure will qualify QC as a (HUB) Historically Underutilized Business. This new certification will provide CMs and GCs with a bono fide option when meeting their good faith efforts for public and private sector projects. Having a well-established, quality centric, results driven subcontractor that holds WOB and SBE certifications is a win-win for a construction manager. January 2016 has been targeted as the official certification date for the two certifications currently underway: SBE, Small Business Enterprise, and the WOB, Women Owned Business.
From a practical perspective, Fran brings a wealth of experience and skill to the management team. Her addition will certainly have an immediate impact on the daily operations, but it is the newly anticipated growth potential that has the team at QC excited. Fran will head up the business development side of the business while Russ Phillips will continue to manage the operations side. As Fran begins to network with the key players in the construction industry, from CMs, GCs, and Project Owners, to supply partners, government agencies, and trade associations, Russ will bring on the necessary supporting staff to manage the steady increase in growth that will surely come with this new focus on sales and marketing.
More articles will be posted in the coming days and weeks as the company continues to make changes to its organizational structure. Check back often for more information on QC’s new owner, and learn about her strategy to spur strong and steady growth for the company.
